Mabey Hire back propping

Back Propping

This technique is commonly used when removing or altering load-bearing components (like beams, columns, or walls) to ensure the stability of the structure while work is being done.

Back propping typically involves placing props behind a structural element that is undergoing work, ensuring that the load is safely transferred to these props until the permanent structure is reinstated or completed. Where a floor slab is being removed for structural repairs, back propping would be used to prevent any collapse while the work is ongoing.

Robust load-bearing support
The system can handle very high loads, making it suitable for major structural works and stabilisation.
Efficient set-up and versatility
Components are designed for faster installation, flexibility in configuration, and use in a variety of applications (e.g., raking, horizontal, needling).
Fully engineered solution
Service can include design, installation and real-time monitoring to ensure safety and structural integrity.
