Enabling safe and efficient delivery of utility temporary works project with EVE

Project Overview

Location

Products

The benefits of EVE, our immersive design solution, have been highlighted on a Scottish Water utility project in Scotland, with the design technology bringing communication and efficiency benefits to the site.

The challenge

Restricted Space

Tight working conditions between a dual carriageway, live utilities, and a steep embankment left very limited room for excavation and construction.

Live Services

The team had to work with extreme care around existing live power cables and active Scottish Water mains, adding significant complexity and risk.

Complex Design

Ground level changes and site constraints required an unusually shaped five-sided cofferdam to safely cast the large concrete thrust block.

Our solution

Using our EVE immersive visualisation technology, the project team was able to integrate all existing infrastructure data, ground conditions, and site constraints into a single interactive model. This enabled engineers to clearly visualise the proposed temporary and permanent works designs, assess constructability, and identify potential access and installation challenges before work began. The ability to explore the model virtually also helped plan around critical factors such as machinery access, pipe installation, and social distancing requirements during the pandemic. By allowing the team to see how every element fitted together, EVE helped prevent clashes between the temporary and permanent works, ensuring a safer and more efficient design.

Get in touch

“Overall, the installation of the project’s temporary works went really smoothly on site – thanks in part to EVE. The technology greatly assisted with the planning stage of the project, enabling us to better visualise the proposed works, forward plan and deliver an enhanced site briefing. Without EVE, it would have been far more difficult to discuss the challenges and our proposed design solutions with the client and other project stakeholders, which in turn would have had a knock-on impact on programme timings. Will we be using it again? 100 per cent. In fact, we already are.”
