A look back over 2025

And just like that, another year is over! 2025 has been a busy twelve months for the Mabey Hire team, from new products and ESG initiatives to hitting the road for various industry events around the UK. Read on as we take a look back at some of the key moments from 2025…

PERI MULTIPROP joins the ranks

February saw us expand our range of propping solutions with the introduction of MULTIPROP, a lightweight aluminium system able to support loads of up to 100kN. Offering simplicity and versatility, MULTIPROP brings a new level of practicality to challenging projects, particularly those involving back propping, needling and shoring in restricted spaces.

We celebrated one million safe hours

Safety has long been at the core of our business, with 2025 being no different. In fact, January saw us celebrate a landmark one-million-manhours without RIDDOR reportable incidents, testament to our collective commitment to safety and the continued efforts in our behavioural safety programme.

Taking action on embodied carbon

First introduced in March 2025, we now include embodied carbon calculations on every quote we issue, as standard. For us, it’s all about supporting our customers in making more environmentally informed decisions right from the outset of their projects. Uniquely, we chose to base our calculations on the duration each product will spend on hire during its lifetime, rather than the number of hires per lifetime, providing a more accurate insight.

Hitting the road

Our team have been out and about this year, with industry events and exhibitions up and down the country. Highlights included Rail Live in June and Highways UK in October, with our Spin the Wheel contest proving popular with attendees. Events like these are a fantastic opportunity for us to network with industry colleagues and listen to the latest challenges and trends affecting key sectors.

Will we see you at an event next year?

Temporary works in action

It’s always brilliant to hear about the amazing feats of engineering and construction that our wide portfolio of temporary works equipment have helped to become a reality. Project highlights from 2025 include Bradford Interchange, the first example of our MULTIPROP in action; Otley Footbridge, where we were tasked with the design, supply and installation of a 62-metre span temporary bridge; and the innovative use of our hydraulic jacking equipment to lift a residential property by 450mm to protect it from future flooding events.

Our Net Zero journey continues

Two years on from the publication of our formal ESG Strategy and significant progress has been made to date. This includes the successful transition to Phase 3 of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), a full switch to renewable electricity across all our UK depots and single-use plastics have been phased out. From a social perspective, our STEM outreach scheme has expanded, delivering over 4,700 student hours, and our refreshed graduate and apprenticeship programmes are now fully supported by the apprenticeship levy.

A huge thank you to all our customers and colleagues for your support over the last twelve months. Here’s to 2026!
